Ildeu Caldeira

Ildeu Alves Caldeira is a 96-year-old widower and former worker at Belgo Mineira living in Monlevade since the 1930s.
He is one of the oldest Monlevadenses in town.


His late wife Irene Antonieta da Cunha Caldeira was a primary school teacher in João Monlevade.


Ildeu and his pregnant wife Irene, before giving birth to their twins Élcio and Lilian in 1973.


During the Second World War, this Belgostalgian helped some of the gringos (Luxembourgers and Germans) to hide in the forest because of the violent strikes of workers refusing to "work for the Nazis".
