Marc André Meyers was born in Brazil as the eldest son of a Luxembourgish engineer. He is the author of "A Dama e o Luxemburguês" and university professor in San Diego.

Louis Ensch (1895-1953) was born in Redange-sur-Attert and moved to Brazil in 1927, where he became the general director of Belgo Mineira until 1953.

Carlo Panunzi was born in Italy, grew up in Southern Luxembourg and was the last Luxembourgish general director of Belgo Mineira.

François Moyen was sent to Brazil by ARBED in 1956 with his wife. He was Belgo Mineira's General Director and Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Belo Horizonte.

The Siderúrgica plant is Belgo Mineira's oldest steel plant. In 1921, ARBED expanded the small steel factory of the Companhia Siderúrgica Mineira founded in 1917. Belgo Mineira's headquarters was in Sabará and the historical directors' buildings of the steel plant are being preserved by ArcelorMittal.

On 31 August 1935, the founding stone of Belgo Mineira's steel plant in João Monlevade was laid. The construction of this steel plant attracted thousands of workers and engineers from various different countries to João Monlevade seeking new job opportunities.

The Belgian industrialist Gaston Barbanson (1876-1946) was ARBED's President and one of ARBED's main defender of the Belgo Mineira project. The Monlevade plant inaugurated in 1937 was named Usina Barbanson on his honour.
